WHAT YOU'LL DO AS A RESEARCH ANALYST:

  • Perform fundamental analysis of equities to forecast dividend stream for a portfolio of stocks;
  • Monitor stock market newswires for updates regarding the amount or timing of company distributions;

Data Science Traineeship

Your role  

A data traineeship is a 12 months development path for recent graduates interested in getting hands-on experience in designing, building, analyzing and delivering impact data solutions and models, with an outlook to joining the team with a full-time position afterwards. During the traineeship you will join the data team and contribute to the development of existing and new databases, impact models, data delivery and data collection tools. Quantitative Analyst Internship

Location : London

G-Research is Europe’s leading quantitative finance research firm. We hire the brightest minds in the world to tackle some of the biggest questions in finance. We pair this expertise with machine learning, big data, and some of the most advanced technology available to predict movements in financial markets.

The role

  • 10-week summer programme (June to September 2023)
  • 09:00-17:30 working hours
  • Based in Central London

Over the course of 10 weeks, G-Research Summer Research Programme interns gain a unique insight into life as a Quantitative Analyst at a leading quantitative finance research firm.

You will be integrated into our team of Quantitative Analysts where you will analyse algorithmic behaviour, right down to order placement levels. This will provide real-world context to tackle a project with actual implications on algorithmic decision-making.

You will also get to experience what it is like to work with a systematic platform and what the pipeline looks like, from forecast generation right through to order performance.

During your time with us, you will work on a meaningful and challenging research project that demands the application of innovative yet pragmatic mathematical and computational analysis.

The project will be data science driven and focused around market microstructure, using our extensive market data set to test a series of hypotheses (either self-generated or provided by wider team) on a distributed computing platform. For candidates who are more engineering focused, there is also the possibility to spend time building on the existing tool set, given that it works towards your project resolution.

You will collaborate with one of our Quantitative Analysts who will act as a mentor as you work on your independent project. You will receive structured feedback and reviews to help you to improve and develop, culminating in a final presentation of your project to senior management.

Taking part in G-Research's Summer Internship Programme will give you an in-depth insight into our academic approach to the world of quantitative finance and allow you to explore the thriving city of London, while you get to know your fellow interns and colleagues through a full itinerary of fun social events.

A high percentage of our interns go on to join G-Research on a full-time basis on completion of their academic studies.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Intermediate level of programming in at least one object oriented language, such as Python or C#
  • Interest in complex systems and tactical problem-solving and diagnosis
  • An interest in applying data science methodologies to real-world problems

Machine Learning Research Internship

Location : London

G-Research is Europe’s leading quantitative finance research firm. We hire the brightest minds in the world to tackle some of the biggest questions in finance. The role

  • 10-week summer programme (June to September 2023)
  • 09:00-17:30 working hours
  • Based in Central London

Over the course of 10 weeks, G-Research Summer Research Programme interns gain a unique insight into life as a Machine Learning practitioner at a leading quantitative finance research firm.

Our full-time ML researchers use a wide range of tools and techniques in an applied setting, putting their expertise to use in direct, production-ready applications with immediate results.

They have access to vast computing resources and are limited only by their imagination. As an ML intern, you will have the opportunity to experience some of this as part of a 10-week programme working on a meaningful and challenging research project that demands the application of innovative yet pragmatic mathematical and computational analysis.

You will be paired with a mentor who will supervise your work and provide ongoing feedback to help you improve and develop, as well as access to senior staff who are leaders in their fields. Your internship will culminate in a final presentation of your research ideas to senior management.

Taking part in G-Research's Summer Internship Programme will give you an in-depth insight into our academic approach to the world of quantitative finance and allow you to explore the thriving city of London, while you get to know your fellow interns and colleagues through a full itinerary of fun social events.

A high percentage of our interns go on to join G-Research on a full-time basis on completion of their academic studies.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • A post-graduate degree in Machine Learning or a related discipline, or commercial experience developing novel machine learning algorithms. We will also consider exceptional candidates with a proven record of success in online data science competitions, such as Kaggle
  • Experience in one or more of deep learning, reinforcement learning, non-convex optimisation, Bayesian non-parametrics, NLP or approximate inference
  • Excellent reasoning skills and mathematical ability are crucial: off-the-shelf methods don't always work with our data, so you will need to understand how to develop your own models
  • Strong programming skills and experience working with Python, scikit-learn, SciPy, NumPy, Pandas and Jupyter

Previous experience in finance is not required, although an interest in finance and the motivation to rapidly learn more is a prerequisite for working here

Internship in Quantitative Finance – Fundamental Analysis

Over the course of 10 weeks, Summer Research Programme interns will gain a unique insight into fundamental analysis at a leading quantitative finance research firm.

You will be given a meaningful and challenging research project, combining mathematical and computational analysis with traditional fundamental analysis.

Fundamental analysis is a new area of our internship programme and we are looking for interns who possess some knowledge of company fundamentals, as well as a solid understanding of data interrogation and the mathematical principles that underpin this.

Using rigorous scientific methodology, robust statistical analysis, and pattern recognition, you will extract meaningful signal from fundamental company data as part of your own research project, which you will focus on during your time with us.

You will collaborate with one of our Quantitative Researchers who will act as a mentor as you work on your independent project. You will receive structured feedback and reviews to help you to improve and develop, culminating in a final presentation of your research ideas to senior management.

Over het traineeship

Bij het IT traineeship van Calco krijg je dé kans om de theorie direct toe te passen in praktijk. In zo’n twee jaar tijd maak jij je de wereld van IT eigen. De eerste twee maanden van het traject word je opgeleid in ons interne opleidingscentrum in Amsterdam. We laten je alle basisfacetten van de IT zien. Maar naast de hard skills, ontwikkel jij bij Calco ook je soft skills. Zit de opleidingsperiode erop? Dan ga je 24 maanden op inzet bij een top 200 bedrijf in Nederland. Richtingen

  • Automatiseren

Hierbij focus je je op het automatiseren van processen en de interactie tussen applicaties. Je leert de taal PowerShell, richt je op Beheer om processen te doorgronden.

  • Business IT

Je beheert en ondersteunt IT-processen en -projecten en bent dus de schakel tussen IT en business. Certificaten die jij kunt behalen zijn o.a. ITIL Foundation en Scrum.

  • Data

Je richt je op het beheren, ontwerpen en verwerken van datasets en data-opslag. Je leert werken met SQL, Power BI en je gaat dieper in op Excel.

  • Development

Het bouwen en aanpassen van applicaties. Je leert programmeren, bijvoorbeeld in talen als Java en Python of C#. Ook leer je de werkmethode Scrum (Agile framework).

  • Infrastructuur

Hierbij ben je bezig met het inrichten of aanpassen van een IT infrastructuur voor het ondersteunen van IT services. Je kunt de certificaten ITIL en Azure Fundamentals behalen.

  • Operations

Als jij gaat voor de richting Operations, leer je hoe je IT-services kunt ondersteunen en verbeteren. Beheer en ITIL Foundation of ASL2 komen aan de orde.

  • Risk & Security

Jij houdt het IT landschap veilig voor gebruikers en weert hackers Je kunt het Cyber and IT Security Foundation certificaat en het ISMS-certificaat behalen

  • Testen

Je onderzoekt, controleert en test functionaliteiten in IT applicaties. Je doet ervaring op met meerdere scripttalen en je gaat voor het certificaat TMAP Suite Test Engineer.

Voor wie is ons IT traineeship geschikt?

Calco biedt kandidaten al sinds 2004 de kans om een switch te maken naar de IT. Inmiddels hebben wij al zo’n 3.000 trainees opgeleid en begeleid naar een carrière in de IT of Finance.

Omdat de IT van oudsher een ‘mannenwereld’ is, zien wij het als onze missie om hier verandering in aan te brengen. Wij streven naar een zo volledig mogelijke representatieve afspiegeling van de maatschappij binnen ons bedrijf. Wij blijven zoeken naar mogelijkheden om het voor iedereen nog meer ''thuis te maken” en kansengelijkheid nog verder te bevorderen binnen ons bedrijf en binnen de IT.

Het traject

  • Crash Course (week 1-2)

De eerste twee weken staan in het teken van de Crash Course, waarin je de grondbeginselen van de IT leert. Je maakt kennis met verschillende thema's binnen de IT, zodat je een duidelijk beeld krijgt van wat IT inhoudt. Zo leer je de technische kant (programmeren, leren over infrastructuur en werken met databases) tot aan het praktische gedeelte van IT (analyseren en leiden van processen). Ook ga je aan de slag met het behalen van certificaten.

  • Deep Dives (week 3-8)

Nu je – in basis – een beeld hebt van de breedte van IT en jouw mogelijkheden hierin, ga je je verder specialiseren via Deep Dives. Geen zorgen, wij helpen je bij het kiezen van de Deep Dives die het beste bij je passen. Samen kijken we welke richting het beste op jouw kwaliteiten, leerpunten, wensen en ambities aansluit.   • Match

Tijdens de opleidingsperiode leren wij jou zo goed mogelijk kennen om de beste match te kunnen maken tussen jou en een opdrachtgever. We kijken naar een geschikte rol voor jou, maar wij vinden het ook belangrijk dat jij past in de bedrijfscultuur van een opdrachtgever.

  • Inzetperiode

Je start met je inzetperiode bij de opdrachtgever! Deze duurt zo’n 24 maanden. Tijdens deze periode blijven we je begeleiden. Maandelijks komt jouw persoonlijke coach (fieldmanager) namelijk langs om met jou te kijken naar je vooruitgang. Daarnaast kun je je blijven ontwikkelen en opleidingen blijven volgen. Zo helpt Calco je om ook tijdens je inzetperiode je ambities te realiseren. Ook organiseert Calco meerdere events per jaar, dus je ziet jouw Calcollega's en mede-trainees uit jouw startgroep nog regelmatig.

  • Overstap naar de opdrachtgever

Na ongeveer twee jaar inzet maakt zo’n ruim 90% van de trainees de overstap naar de opdrachtgever. Dit blijft echter wel altijd je eigen keuze.

Jij hebt impact

Bij DNB leer je als trainee meer over onze rol als onafhankelijke centrale bank, toezichthouder en resolutie autoriteit. De kans is groot dat je bij meerdere van deze kerntaken komt te werken tijdens je traineeship. Je werkt in ieder geval aan vraagstukken die actueel, inhoudelijk uitdagend en maatschappelijk zeer relevant zijn. Bij DNB heeft jouw werk als trainee impact op financiële stabiliteit en duurzame welvaart.

Zo doe je dat als trainee bij DNB

Het tweejarig programma van het DNB traineeship kent een unieke aanpak; het gaat bij DNB om de beste leerervaringen voor jou en daar passen we jouw plaatsingen op aan. Hierbij houden we rekening met je interesses, opleidingsachtergrond en leerdoelen. In twee jaar tijd werk je op 3 verschillende afdelingen voor een periode van acht maanden, steeds in een andere functie. Je leert hierdoor meerdere kerntaken van DNB kennen, zoals het toezicht op financiële instellingen, de werking van het betalingsverkeer, resolutie of monetair beleid. Vaak ga je tijdens het DNB traineeship aan de slag als toezichthouder of beleidsmedewerker en in elke functie draai je mee op de afdeling en krijg je eigen verantwoordelijkheden.

Je werkt tijdens elke plaatsing vaak in een multidisciplinair team. Samen werken jullie aan antwoorden op complexe vragen, bijvoorbeeld op het gebied van FinTech, nieuwe toezichtwetgeving, klimaatrisico’s bij financiële instellingen, cybersecurity of de huizenmarkt. In een dynamische en internationale omgeving ontwikkel je je tijdens je traineeship tot een breed inzetbare professional.

Trainees die jou voorgingen werkten onder andere aan: 

  • Een onderzoek naar de mate waarin kwetsbare groepen mee kunnen komen bij een steeds digitaliserend betalingsverkeer. 
  • Een analyse van de beheersing van klimaat- en milieurisico's door banken. 
  • Het toetsen van markt- en kredietrisico modellen door langs te gaan bij nationale en internationale financiële instellingen. 
  • Een onderzoek naar de rol van contant geld in verdachte transacties. 
  • Een gecombineerd DNB-ECB data-analyse project over het effect van klimaatveranderingen op energie derivaten. 
  • Het opzetten van de klimaatstresstest. 
  • Speeches voor onze directieleden.

 

Bij DNB vinden wij het belangrijk dat je als trainee goed begeleid wordt en dat je je breed kunt ontwikkelen. Daar besteden we veel tijd en aandacht aan. Je krijgt een aantal mentoren toegewezen en je kunt verschillende vakinhoudelijke trainingen en opleidingen kiezen en volgen, denk bijvoorbeeld aan onze interne opleiding tot toezichthouder of een verdieping op financiële economie. Samen met je 13 mede trainees volg je een persoonlijk ontwikkeltraject waarin jullie elkaar en jezelf beter leert kennen.

Een goed analytisch vermogen is belangrijk. Daarnaast ben je leergierig, nieuwsgierig en breed georiënteerd. Je leert snel, neemt initiatief en geeft niet op bij tegenslag. Ook ben je gericht op samenwerking. Je legt makkelijk contact en bent communicatief vaardig. 

Waar zijn we verder nog naar op zoek? 

  • Je hebt je academische master uiterlijk op 1 september 2023 afgerond. 
  • Alle studieachtergronden zijn welkom.  
  • Je hebt maximaal twee jaar werkervaring. 
  • Je beheerst de Nederlandse en de Engelse taal op minimaal B2 niveau; de voertaal binnen DNB is veelal Nederlands. Doordat we werken in een internationale context communiceer je als trainee regelmatig in het Engels. 

 

Dit bieden we je

Een 36-urige werkweek met werk midden in de actualiteit. Bij een heel diverse, betrouwbare en maatschappelijk betrokken werkgever, die voortdurend inspeelt op de veranderende eisen van onze omgeving. En die doorlopend innoveert. Dit biedt jou volop kansen je verder te verdiepen en nieuwe ervaringen op te doen. In Nederland, maar ook daarbuiten. Als trainee start je met een contract voor twee jaar. Bij goed functioneren en wanneer de omstandigheden niet wijzigen is er uitzicht op voortzetting.

De overige goede arbeidsvoorwaarden die horen bij deze functie:

  • Een salaris van € 3.490,- bruto per maand, op basis van een 36-urige werkweek. 
  • Een goede balans tussen je professionele en je privéleven. In dit traineeship is het mogelijk om 4 dagen van 9 uur te werken. 
  • Een 13de maand, 8% vakantietoeslag berekend over 13 maanden en een vrij besteedbaar persoonlijk budget van 5,9% van je 12-maandssalaris. 
  • Pensioenopbouw op basis van middelloon met voorwaardelijke indexatie, eigen bijdrage in de premie 6,54%  
  • Een volledige vergoeding van je ov-reiskosten voor woon-werkverkeer. 
  • Veel mogelijkheden jezelf door opleidingen en trainingen zowel vakinhoudelijk als persoonlijk te ontwikkelen. Daarnaast bieden wij wekelijks diverse seminars en kennissessies aan om op de hoogte te blijven van diverse maatschappelijke vraagstukken.
